Good Ab Workouts

There are three parts to getting a great looking stomach. The first part has to do with losing stomach weight. If you do not follow the proper steps for getting rid of stomach fat before you begin your toning exercises, you are really just wasting time and energy. Good ab workouts that focus on toning are not the same as those that focus on losing weight. In fact if you are doing toning exercises and expecting to see weight loss results, you are just setting yourself up for a major letdown. There is nothing worse than a failure story to get you back into your old habits of not exercising. So your first key to a great stomach is to get rid of any excess flab you may have. Cardio exercises are the best for this kind of weight loss.

The second part is building muscle in your abdominal region. There are so many good ab workouts that focus on building muscles in your stomach. To build muscles you have to start small and then build up your reps as well as your resistance. That means if you are doing 10 crunches per set and doing three sets, after a few weeks you should be able to start doing 15 crunches per set and a total of four sets. Also if you are doing leg ups, sit ups, etc, start doing those exercises with weights attached. It will help you build a solid base that you will then work on toning. The following workouts focus on last aspect of a great stomach – toning.

Toning is a very important aspect of getting a great looking tummy. It is also the final step in the three step process. Some people start out down the line with step one. Others begin with step two. Yet others already have a great set of stomach muscles but need to work on toning. You know where you are at. If you already have strong muscles, you do not need to do the first step, you just need to skip to the last one and start from there.
Crunches and sit ups are a good way to build muscles, but they are also a terrific way to tone them. All you need to do is to turn your focus to maximize on your reps within the set. Do as much as you can and try to break a sweat. Whether you are doing crunches or sit ups, remember that regularity is the key along with volatile workouts.
There are machines that can help you to tone your lower, upper, and middle stomach muscles. An abs roller is a great machine that can help you looking great in a matter of weeks. Other things you can do is leg ups for your lower abs, the bicycle for your middle lower abs, and lots of crunches for your upper abs. It will always be easier to tone your upper abs, so set aside extra time for your lower ones to see the best results.
